Korean BBQ Will Always Remain The Answer For The Rest of Eternity

If you haven’t had any Korean BBQ, then you really are missing out on one of the best food experiences ever. Also, if you’ve been here but are not ordering from their all you can eat menu, then your doing something completely wrong. I’ve only been eating Korean BBQ for about 2-3 years so maybe I wouldn’t consider myself a true die-hard fan. However, I believe one trip is all you need to become a KBBQ fan. Here, where I live (which is Northern Virginia), there are 2 popular places to eat Korean BBQ. These are Iron Age and Sō. I’m sure there are more, but I feel like these are the most popular ones, as their wait times can exceed an hour and a half. Both have their own unique styles, and some people claim that one or the other taste better. In my Opinion, I Prefer Sō. Iron Age has an interesting setting. Its dark and on each side of the walls there are huge TV’s that play KPOP music all day long. If you’re into KPOP and want to try Korean BBQ, then this is the place for you. Sō, on the other hand is a bit different. Instead of being a bit dark inside, all the lights are turned on, and it feels more spacious. From what I’ve noticed, it seems that the tables are longer there too. Meaning you can bring more people. I prefer this environment as it feels livelier. Iron Age gives off that secluded to your own table find of vibe. Of course, when you dine you want to be involved with the people you’re eating with. However, the no lights thing is kind of droopy to me.
Now, in my opinion, I think Sō’s quality of the meat is slightly better than Iron Age’s. I also like that Sō also gives you more food items on the table then Iron Age. For example, if you go to Sō Kimchi will be available at the table as soon as you sit. I love Kimchi so having it ready in the beginning is perfect. At Iron Age, you must ask for it. Of course, asking for it doesn’t require any effort at all, I like how in Sō its available from the start. Also, one huge thing that I love about Sō is that they know where to sit people. What I mean is this: If you go to Sō with at least 5 or more people they always seat you in a table that has 2 grills. This makes things perfect as each side of the table gets their own meat. In the end, the whole table doesn’t have to split an order of one single meat amongst everyone. With this kind of method, everyone gets to eat a lot. At Iron Age which I have attended 3 times in the past 2 months. I’ve always attended with at least 5 people (the most being 7), and every single time we were given a table with only one grill. The worst was when my party of 7 were given a table with one grill. Literally, each person got like 4 pieces of meat. Either way, both places are great and provide such excellent meat quality. For those who aren’t familiar with KBBQ, just know that if you do go with the ‘all you can eat menu’, please expect to pay at least $30/person. If you’re okay with this, then I promise you that you will truly enjoy one of the best food experiences of your life.
