You Should Definitely Go Biking Around the City
May 07, 2021
A few days ago. I decided to go biking around DC. This was a hobby me and my friends did during the summer and fall of 2020. Of course, with winter that recently passed, we didn’t go out as much. However, now that it’s spring, I’m sure we will continue to spend time together doing this fun activity. Anyway, after visiting my friend, the urge of biking kicked in. So I drove down to DC, and got one of those bikes that you can rent for some time (I currently don’t have a bike). I decided to go at night and I will explain why I think that the best time to do it. First, there is barely any traffic this allows you to fly though the streets and sidewalk as if it was a ghost town. Since there isn’t many people outside after dark, there is no shortage of bikes. My journey started across the Washington Monument. I decided to bike down to my new office location which was maybe 8 minutes from the Monument. I recently accepted a job offer, and I wanted to check out the building where I will be working from.
From there I decided to head down to Georgetown. This cover photo you’re seeing was taken at one of the busiest areas of Georgetown. If you do make your way down there, I highly recommend a visit to Insomnia Cookies which is literally across the street. They’re open until 3AM so there is never a rush to try out their delicious cookies. I then ended my journey by retuning back to the Monument. Going at night really is a great way to enjoy this activity. As you’re cycling around the city, it’s fun to see what is happening late at night. I saw people leaving clubs and some just leaving work. I also saw a couple arguing (not sure they’re together anymore after that intense argument lol). The best thing about biking/scootering around is just that it gives a sense of ‘getting away’. All your stress disappears as you feel the breeze of your journey.
